Sustainable Design

Richter & Cegan brings a strong environmental ethic to all of its projects focusing on new innovations in sustainable design. Collectively, the firm has made a long standing commitment to the principles of sustainable design, encouraging an integrative design approach from the early planning stages through construction implementation and maintenance of the project. Sustainable design principles are incorporated into all of Richter & Cegan's work with special emphasis on the identification, preservation, re-use and enhancement of on-site natural resources. Through the careful design and siting of projects and thoughtful selection of site materials, we work to achieve the goals of increased water quality and reduced habitat loss, climate change impacts and energy consumption.

Richter & Cegan is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and has LEED accredited and SITES accredited professionals on staff. The firm promotes the training of its staff in sustainable design issues and encourages staff to become LEED and SITES accredited professionals. We have a number of projects pursuing LEED certification and work with our clients to define the level of sustainability that best suits their design priorities and project goals.

Our mission is to create sustainable landscapes through sensitive planning and creative design that not only meet our clients' needs, but also respect the environment and their surroundings.
