CT Department of Public Health Laboratory
Rocky Hill, CT

The relocation of the Connecticut Public Health Laboratory from Hartford to Rocky Hill. The new 110,000 SF building was sited on a plateau at the top of the hill to take advantage of off-site views, solar orientation and relatively level terrain to accommodate the parking and site program, while minimizing impacts to the existed wooded areas. Sustainable initiatives include a bio-detention pond, rain gardens and the conversion of lawn to native meadows and use of native plantings to reduce water consumption.
