Amherst College: Merrill Science Center and Life Sciences Building
Amherst, MA

The architecture and siting of the new 50,000 SF Life Sciences Building is designed to fit into the Amherst College campus and like both adjacent buildings, including the renovated Merrill Science Center, is built into the hillside. It is connected to the Math Building to the west by an underground tunnel to preserve a heavily used walkway. Site improvements included new courtyards and entries to the buildings, re-design of adjacent parking and pedestrian walkways, and locating specimen plantings.
