Kensington, CT
This private residence is the transformation of a 1960's brick ranch into an English cottage and gardens. The property was acquired to serve as a guest house to a larger estate. Design cues were taken from the estate house and materials and detailing were carried over to this project. An entry court at the front of the house welcomes visitors. Stone walls and stairs provide access down the slope to the South Lawn Terrace and Overlook at the back of the house. Stone steps down the hillside provide access to the native meadow and woodland area.
